Assessment Device
Directions: This is an imaginary assessment in which an individual is to answer "yes" or "no" to each statement. Since this is to be used with a Discussion Board you do not have to answer the statements.
Rather, analyze the statements and determine which reading specified in the DB BEST represents the majority of statements on this device. Defend your choice by referring to material in the readings. There may be more than one choice; however, defend just ONE.
1. Giving my personal opinion when a group is discussing an important matter is difficult, even when I think my opinion is valuable.
2. I find myself yelling at other drivers--whether they can hear me or not.
3. At times I become forgetful, my thoughts feel like they are racing, and I have trouble concentrating. I sometimes wish I could be calmer and learn to relax.
4. I find it very hard to forgive someone who has done me wrong.
5. Getting a good job depends mainly on being in the right place at the. right time.
6. When things don’t go my way, I get depressed.
7. I use an electric razor while reading or eating.
8. I have a lot of trouble falling asleep, or remaining asleep through the night.

13. Having to ask for clarification when I am confused about what someone has said makes me feel incompetent.
14. I have neglected the aesthetic side of life (music, the arts, etc.) for the sake of accumulating achievements.

16. When things go wrong in my life, it's generally because I have made mistakes.
17. I work best at the “last minute” when the pressure is really on.
18. Following doctor's orders to the letter is the best way for me to stay healthy.

20. When someone says or does something that upsets me, I don’t usually say anything at the time, but later spend a lot of time thinking up cutting replies I could and should have made.

24. Frequently I feel like I have to "double-check" things, such as light switches, door locks, stovetops, or car doors to see if they are secure (even though I am pretty sure that they are safely in place.)
25. Resisting sales pressure is tough. Sometimes it is hard to hang up on salespeople when they call on the phone, or to tell salespeople in stores that I am just window shopping.

28. In relationships (or with family members or friends) I have a hard time telling someone that they have said or done something that offends me.

32. There are too many interruptions that interfere with my accomplishing my top priorities.

34. There have been a lot of changes in my life over the past year.
35. People really irritate me when they don’t behave the way they should, or when they act like they don’t have the good sense God gave lettuce.

37. I know what I have to do but frequently I find that I have done something else.
38. Many exams I took in school were unconnected to the material I had studied, so studying hard didn't help at all.
39. I do not accept criticism well. I often get resentful or overreact to others who find fault in my performance or actions.
40. I am quick to say yes to requests before taking the time to consider what the task involves, or how much time it may take.
