Directions on how to access and use U.C.'s Library. |
IF OFF CAMPUS: This will take you to the "Institution Selection Form."
At this point, if you are off-campus, but a registered U.C. student (which you are if you are a member of this class), you will see an "Authentication" link. Click it and select "University of Cincinnati" in a drop-down box. Click "Submit" button. Enter your name, Social Security number, and PIN in the box. You may choose any number or word for PIN, but remember it, since you won't be able to access the OhioLINK source in the future without it.
8. This will take you to the "Electronic Journal Center." Click the "Social Sciences" link for Psychology journals. Click "Psychology and Psychiatry" link.
You will now see a list of full-text journals. Pick one that seems likely for this course and your topic/subject (e.g. "Behavior Modification")
When you click the journal title a page will come up listing issues of the journal. At the top of the page you will see:
A "Blank Box" in "All Fields box" in "Just This Journal" and a "Search" button
If you click the drop down box for "Just This Journal" you will see "All Electronic Journals"
9. Type your topic/subject in the "Blank Box" Click the "Search" button and you should find full-text articles on your subject.
OPTION 2
At this point, if you are off-campus, but a registered U.C. student (which you are if you are a member of this class), you will see an "Authentication" link. Click it and select "University of Cincinnati" in a drop-down box. Click "Submit" button. Enter your name, Social Security number, and PIN in the box. You may choose any number or word for PIN, but remember it, since you won't be able to access the OhioLINK source in the future without it.
d. Click “PsycInfo” (If you are off-campus, you need to click the “telephone icon” and fill out data asked for) Your “PIN” number you can make up, but don’t forget it.
You will get a list
of journals containing your subject (hopefully). However,
U.C. libraries may not have the journal. How
can you find out?
If a U.C. library has it (such as Langsam on
the West Campus or Health Sciences on the East Campus), it will
give you a number (e.g. BF .089); If
U.C. doesn’t have it, you will get the message “(Title of journal” should
appear here”
11. Take the number to the desk and ask where
the journal is located.
12. Copy the article(s) you need.
